Have a granddaughter that is an EMT. She said they use them, as do the ERs. I live alone & am in my 70s. I have choked on food & luckily coughed it up. Bought one for my home & three others for my children’s homes as Christmas gifts.

I sampled the device on myself as a practice

I sampled the device on myself as a practice. I think it works fine as I created suction and started pumping. However, I read a review and said it was not recommended to use on oneself. Yet, that was the reason I bought it as it was advertised that way. Please explain.

I received it. If you put it together and practice with it, it's no longer any good you have to buy another. So just a FYI dont practice it. Leave it alone until you need it.
